A generation (or two ) ago, a schoolgirl might write to her best friend "Roses are Red Violets are Blue Sugar is Sweet And So Are You! From your best friend...." One student was heard to have said this endearment to his friend "Dude, keep in touch yah...don't be a twat in army okay, hao lian and you die."
