Dear Parents, We would have all received the Term Three Letter from the Principal to parents. Apart from news about school programmes, the Principal, Mr. Chan Poh Meng also updated Parents on his health situation as follows : - "You may have learned from your child/ward that I have been on medical leave for a term now. I was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer and after surgery in early March 2014, started on a course of chemotherapy which will take about another three more months to complete. With adequate rest, exercise and a good diet, I am very glad to report that I am doing well and look forward to returning to school in early October 2014. During my absence, Mr Magendiran, Senior Deputy Principal, has been covering my duties and I have been keeping in close touch with my team of Deputy Principals. You have my personal assurance that the teachers will be ensuring that all students will be well looked after and will continue to enjoy their learning and development." We understand that despite his illness, Mr Chan Poh Meng has been in daily email and telephone contact with staff of the school. We want to thank Mr Chan and the school leadership for their update and their transparency. We also want to express our support to the Principal, Deputy Principals, Staff and Students of Raffles Institution, we will support All School Initiatives without reserve.
