The first PSLE Mathematics Workshop was held on 9 July 2011. The speaker is the RPA Vice Chairman, Mr. Too Meng Ken. With several master degrees in Mathematics and vast experience in the field, he gladly shared techniques in solving challenging Mathematics questions with parents and students.
A total of 147 parents and students attended this workshop. The students were from 33 different schools including Tao Nan, Nanyang, RGS and Rosyth. 31 questions were set by Mr. Too and he gave advice to the participants regarding the mastery of problems from Paper 1 and 2 covering the topics including area, volume, geometry, speed and pie charts.
The second PLE Mathematics Workshop was held on 13 August 2011 again by Mr. Too Meng Ken. This workshop attracted 160 participants, even more than that of the previous session including some RI staff members. The participants came from 37 schools including the top primary schools in the country. In this workshop, Mr Too focused on the patterns, ratios, fractions, percentages and model building.
Participants enjoyed the workshop so much that all (100%) of them would recommend this workshop to their friends in the future. Some parents stayed back for another 30 minutes to pose more questions to our speaker. They were really eager to learn more about Mathematics. They even hoped that we could keep them informed about future workshops.
